Why we use background location
- Runners: We collect location in the background to enable live tracking, accurate ETAs, route progress, and safety features—even when the app is minimized or the screen is off.
- Customers: If enabled, we may collect location in the background to improve pickup accuracy, show nearby runners, and provide deliveries/ETAs.
What we collect
- Precise GPS location, timestamps, and derived route events.
- Device information necessary for tracking reliability (e.g., OS, app version).
How often
- Periodically during active errands/deliveries and while runner availability is set to "online".
- Collection pauses when runners go "offline" or customers disable permissions.
How we use it
- Matching and routing, real-time maps, notifications, proof of service, dispute resolution.
- Safety features and fraud prevention.
User control
- You can control permissions in device settings and in-app.
- Turning off background location may disable live tracking, availability, and delivery features.
Store disclosures
- iOS: We use "Always Allow" location permission for runners to support background updates.
- Android: We request "Allow all the time" permission for runners for background updates.
